Andale! Andale!

Speedy's namesake.
Hugo wanted to wear a doggy collar like Speedy.

Funny face.
See my doggy ears?
Smooch!
I love you, Speedy.
Poof! You're a ballerina.

Cheese!
Hey guys, let's get this party started.

Birthday pooch in a tutu.
Did you say birthday cake?
Homemade doggy bone cake for our Speedy.
Hugo wants a taste! "Hugo, I thought you were a vegetarian?"
"I am, Mama. I'm just eating a piece of cheese."
Lick. Lick.

Mummy trouble

Hugo's curiosity about mummies all started when we checked out Tim Burton's book at the library a couple of months ago. The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories is a collection of odd short stories & illustrations. Mummy Boy was Hugo's favorite story.
"He wasn't soft and pink with a fat little tummy; he was hard and hollow, a little boy mummy."

This past week we checked out a couple of more "kid friendly" mummy books. "Where's My Mummy?" is a fun read.

Michael Rex is one of our favorite authors. His "Goodnight Goon" parody was Hugo's book of choice for a long time. The Goon even makes an appearance at the end of this book.

Thanks to Aunt Jen Jen's Easter gift card Hugo is now the proud owner of the Matchbox Mummy's Gold Playset. The Mummy's eyes light up & he bellows "Who dare wakes the Mummy?" Sometimes Hugo is fascinated by this & other times he is kind of creeped out. Ha.

Happy Easter!

Wake up, sleepyhead! It's Easter morning & the Easter Bunny came & left you surprises.
Aaarrgghhh....I don't want to wake up, Mama.
Uuummm....did you say surprises? As in candy surprises?
Candy eggs! Woo hoo!
Can I go ahead & eat 'em?
Chomp. Chomp.
See? Candy eggs are tasty.
More eggs?
I can't believe my luck. The Easter Bunny rocks!
Look, Mama. It's Bunny girl.
Hotwheels!
What's next?
Taste testing candy eggs.

Gee. What's this Easter egg doing in here? Guess the Easter Bunny needed some of my carrot juice.

This is Bunny Girl. Hugo got her for Easter. She is pals with Julius & the rest of the Paul Frank gang. Hugo is fond of Paul Frank characters.

Did someone say free pancakes?

Whoa, Mama! That's a super duper giant stack of pancakes!

Hugo & I participated in IHOP's National Pancake Day this afternoon. He got a stack of chocolate chip pancakes, of course, and I got a buttermilk stack. We made a donation to Children's Miracle Network afterward. Yummy!

Double Holiday: Happy Valentine's Day & Happy Chinese New Year

Domo says "Happy Valentine's!"
Pink pancakes for Valentine's.

We went to Madison Bowling Alley for two games with Granny. Hugo likes to bowl on the IPod, so it was time to see what he could do at the lanes.

Hugo got his very own size ball & bowled like a pro.

Granny, I got a strike!

We ate Chinese food at China Cottage with Granny & Paw Paw.

Hugo got a new book to learn about the Chinese New Year.

We went to see the Chinese Arts Alliance of Nashville perform drumming & the Lion Dance at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Hugo was getting into it until the lion got a bit to close for comfort & then he screamed.
